The Electoral Committee of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) has officially lifted the ban on campaign activities for the upcoming union elections.

The announcement, made earlier today, clears the way for all aspirants to begin soliciting support from the student body, effective immediately.

In a statement released by the committee, and signed by the chairman, Comrade Tiamiyu Olayinka, all stakeholders, aspirants, and supporters were urged to conduct their campaigns responsibly and in accordance with the Union’s electoral guidelines.

The committee emphasized the importance of issue-based campaigning, urging candidates to focus on presenting meaningful policies rather than engaging in personal attacks or divisive rhetoric.

“The Electoral Committee encourages all aspirants to run issue-based campaigns and demonstrate the values of leadership, responsibility, and unity that FOSSU stands for,” the statement read.

The committee also warned that any breach of the campaign code of conduct would not be tolerated, promising swift sanctions against any individual or group that undermines the rules set in place to ensure a free and fair process.

The committee expressed hope that this year’s elections would serve as a model of decorum for student leadership across the state.

The date of the election has yet to be confirmed, but with the campaign season now officially open, student politics within the Federation of Oyo State Students Union is expected to kick into high gear in the coming days.
