Makinde’s Bus: Oyo Youth Commissioner as Agent of Peace

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, March 7th, distributed 28 buses to students’ societies in the state.

The Federation of Ibarapa Students Association, one of the leading regional organizations in the state, was a beneficiary of the gesture from the state government.

Campusnews360 learned that the FIBSA bus was withheld due to an in-house disorder within the organization.

While Governor Seyi Makide presented keys to other student organizations, it was suggested that the ongoing fracas in the Federation of Ibarapa Students Association be resolved to avoid further problems.

This was due to a submission by the Oyo state commissioner for youth and sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, in a bid to promote peace in the region.

It was gathered that the FIBSA President, Comrade Taderi Adeolu, was challenged by another president of the association, Comrade Adeleke Adeola, in an attempt to collect the bus for the organization.

In what generated a rancor and exchange of words, the intervention of the state commissioner became apt and forstalled disgraceful acts that may have been committed by both parties at the auspicious event.

A turn of events in the association has made FIBSA a house divided in itself.

Campusnews360 reported that the executive arm of the association had, in an election in Ayete on Saturday, February 10, 2024, elected Taderi Adeolu and other executives of the organization.

In the same vein, a transition committee that operated alongside the executive arm conducted an election that brought in Adeleke Adeola as the second president of the association on February 24.

As reported by Oyomind, Hon. Wasilat, while reacting to viral allegations of purposefully denying FIBSA the Aluta Bus by the state governor, described the allegations as attempts to soil her personality.

FIBSA withheld Bus

The commissioner explained that the decision to step down the release of the bus was necessitated to prevent the student body from creating a scene in the presence of the state governor.

She noted that this was after she had called the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Students, Mr. Victor Olojede, and informed him of the decision because of the factional crises.

Hon. Wasilat added that her fairness is evident in her failure to release the bus to the faction that has emanated from her home town.

Meanwhile, a FIBSA Progressive and Concerned Stakeholders has condemned recent reports raised by association saboteurs aimed at tarnishing the good image of the state commissioner for youth and sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke.

The group expressed delight in the swift action of the Lanlate-born commissioner for stepping in to calm things down between the factions of the association present for the receipt of the bus.

“For this, we will support everyone and anyone who is interested in peace and progress of FIBSA including HC. WASILAT & ADEMOLA OJO and in reverse we will fight against those who are against this move”. They added.

Full press Release

In reaction to a press release made by non existent Council of FIBSA stakeholders on the 12th day of March 2024, via Oduduwanews, Oyoinsight and gistmate blogspots regarding the delay surrounding FIBSA bus release, we the progressive Stakeholders and members of the association who undertand the core of and what FIBSA stands for strongly reject, every single points raised in the illogical releases made by these saboteurs.

The public should recall that, On the 7th day of March 2024, Governor Seyi Makinde empowered students union across Oyo state with brand new bus in a move that reiterated his continuous support for students and education at large.

As memorable as the day was, the FIBSA conundrum marred the occasion as several underlying issues prevented the release of FIBSA’s bus however Lanlate born commissioner HC. WASILAT ADEGOKE stepped in to calm things down as issues ensued among FIBSA representatives there present (as a result of underlying internal crisis) the result of which was her decision in agreement by the SSA to the Governor on student affairs Mr Victor Olojede and HC. Ademola Ojo, to hold the bus till all issues are resolved, it was agreed upon by all parties as a progressive move to resolve all differences.

It is then surprising, to see a media release condemning  HC. WASILAT’s peaceful intervention by some element of destruction, saboteurs of progress, and enemies of peace parading themselves as stakeholders who in their continuous display of stupidity and hunger for complete destruction of FIBSA since they can’t control it for their own good. To them its power or nothing!

These same individuals where informed of the reconciliation meeting which was scheduled for 12 March, 2024 at the office of the commissioner for commerce and cooperative affairs HC. ADEMOLA OJO but was called off unfortunately due to the commissioners impromptu official engagement. If commissioner WASILAT ADEGOKE is condemned for her action for peace so should ADEMOLA OJO be condemned for joining the plan to bring peace.

The public should also recall that there’s no such thing as council of stakeholders at FIBSA as these same saboteurs has burnt all the bridges and made it completely impossible for such body to exist, especially in time of crisis and that’s because, THEY ARE THE CRISIS.

Anyone who has been conversant with FIBSA for the past few years will know easily that the ones that was/are/and will be responsible for any and every crisis at FIBSA include, Barnabas, Dauda Kazeem (Atiku), Onifade Gbenga (Gbengene), other associates in bitterness and destruction include Ayandele Ayuba, Wasiu Oke (pattern), Micheal Adelakun and some other insignificant individuals.

Each of these individuals despite once serving FIBSA, has been sabotaging the very same union which gave them the platform to rise, in the name of personal interest.

We wish to make this clear to anyone and everyone that we the progressive stakeholders stand for peace, we consider FIBSA as a building ground for younger generations, and for FIBSA being the only channel of inter-relationship between the all the seven towns. We understand the critical importance of FIBSA and we’ll fight tooth and nail to uphold everything FIBSA stands for. For this, we will support everyone and anyone who is interested in peace and progress of FIBSA including HC. WASILAT & ADEMOLA OJO and in reverse we will fight against those who are against this move. FIBSA is bigger than everybody and anybody, it’s no town’s property either and in FIBSA no town is superior, anyone who tamper with this core shall be met with brutal force.

We finally call on the entire student populace of Ibarapa and the public in general, to join the fight against these saboteurs and rid FIBSA of their shackles, it’s high time the 40+ years old trio of Atiku, Gbengene and Barnabas are put in thier place and Pattern, Ayuba, Micheal Adelakun and other apprentice rendered irrelevant.

We advise each of them to heed this warning shot, change for better, get a proper job and let FIBSA breathe! If they persist they should be aware that due diligence is done on all of them and we’ll come for them one after the other till we mark the end of their days at FIBSA.

End!

Imagine an association that can’t even manage one or two WhatsApp group not to talk of other things,
Until we reach a compromise on how things are to be shared I fear things will continue to be like this, either ibarapa be 3 as per the LGAs or 7 as per the towns.
Cause I don’t understand what the problem is we are not as much as Oke-Ogun and other regions still yet not composed,
