FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays for Easter Celebration

BREAKING: FG Approves Additional Public Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr

The Government of the federation has declared Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, 2024 as public holidays to mark this year Easter by Christians.

The minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this known in a statement signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Mrs Aishetu Ndayako, on Wednesday.

Christians and all Nigerians were urged by the minister to be exemplary of the teachings of Jesus Christ and follow his footsteps in sacrifice, Love and his death for redemption of man.

The statement said: “Easter, beyond religious significance, promotes values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are essential for social cohesion and harmony.

“The minister called on Christians to imbibe these virtues, as they are capable of impacting positively on the socio-economic development of Nigeria by fostering unity, reducing conflicts, and encouraging cooperation among Nigerians.”

Mr. Olubunmi admonished Nigerians to contribute their quota in alleviating the material conditions of the less privileged by showing acts of charity and generosity.

This, according to him is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While wishing Christians at home and abroad a happy and blissful Easter celebration, the Minister also called on Nigerians to join hands with the President Tinubu-led administration in its determination to bring sustainable development and usher in prosperity for all.
