The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the police have arrested a father and his son for impersonation offenses during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The father, according to JAMB, was impersonating his son during the UTME.
This was disclosed by the JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Wednesday during an inspection tour of centers where the 2024 UTME is being held in Kaduna.
The JAMB boss noted that the conduct of the 2024 examination nationwide has been commendable, except for the reported cases of impersonation, which was possible through the possession of multiple National Identity Numbers (NINs) by some candidates.
Oloyede reiterated, saying that candidates who have engaged in examination malpractices will be arrested now or after the examination, as it boasts of technologies that can check all forms of examination malpractice during the conduct of the examination.

The JAMB Registrar also used the opportunity to inform those who have missed the exam, for reasons not caused by the examination body, to forget about it, saying that, JAMB cannot spend tens of millions of the nation’s resources to reorganize a session for a few candidates who missed the exams due to their personal recklessness.
