Olushola Oladoja has been elected as the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
Oladoja, a postgraduate student of the University of Jos, polled 300 votes to defeat his main challengers—Salauhudeen Suleiman of the University of Abuja and Gambo Abubakar from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.
The election, which was held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja on Wednesday, saw the participation of over 358 student leaders, including presidents of Students’ Union Governments from tertiary institutions across the country.
The process was overseen by Comrade Suleiman Sariki, who chaired the NANS Convention Committee. Some delegates described the election as transparent and credible, commending the organizers for conducting a smooth exercise.
Those who emerged as the new officers and their portfolios include Oladoja Olusola(National President-elect), Anzaku Shedrack(General Secretary- elect), Usman Adamu (Senate President-elect), Adeyemi Samson(Public Relations Officer-elect) and Adejuwon Olatunji (Assistant Secretary-General- elect), among others.
The new president-elect, who is a postgraduate student of University of Jos (UNIJOS), polled a total of 300 votes, defeated Salauhudeen Suleiman, a student of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly University of Abuja) and Gambo Abubakar from Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University Lapai, Niger State.
