Nigerian Air Force Renovates Classroom, Donates Learning Materials to Schools in Katsina

As part of efforts at strengthening civil-military relations, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has renovated a classroom and donated educational materials to pupils of Kurhundu Primary School in Katsina State.

Campus 360 reports that this move is part of efforts aimed at deepening non-kinetic operations.

The intervention was spearheaded by the Air Component Commander of Operation FANSAN YANMA (OPFY), Air Commodore Ibrahim Garba Jibia.

This, according to him is in line with the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who emphasized the importance of community engagement in NAF’s operations.

“In every flight we take, every mission we complete, we honour our commitment to protect the freedom and future of our citizens,” the CAS was quoted as saying, underlining the rationale behind the service’s increasing focus on grassroots development.

As part of the initiative, the NAF unit conducted assessments of the school’s learning environment and engaged teaching staff on best practices in classroom delivery. The efforts culminated in the renovation of one of the classrooms, significantly improving the learning conditions for pupils.

The NAF’s gesture inspired the Katsina State Government to join the effort by renovating an additional classroom and approving the construction of a new one, which is currently underway.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, noted that the initiative is part of the Air Force’s broader strategy to win hearts and minds, foster trust, and enhance cooperation with host communities.

“This project reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s evolving role, not only in defending the nation’s airspace but also in contributing meaningfully to the development of local communities,” he stated.

Through such interventions, the NAF continues to position itself as a key partner in national development and community upliftment across Nigeria.
