PHOTOS: 3 UNICAL Students Abducted - Police, VC confirm

Three University of Calabar (UNICAL) students have been abducted by gunmen who are suspected to be kidnappers.

An Academic Staff Union of Universities’ Freedom hostel was stormed by armed men around 7 pm on Friday, March 9, 2024 to abduct the three students to unknown location.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Florence Obi confirmed the development on Sunday.

Obi disclosed the names of the candidates as Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology, Ojang Precious Ebejin, a 200-level student of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, and Biotechnology, and Damilola Dickson, a final-year student of the same Department.

The development was also confirmed by the Spokesperson of the Calabar Police Command, SP Irene Ugbo on Sunday.

Ugbo added that the police were working in collaboration with other security agencies to rescue the students.
