UI Admission Requirements 2023/2024: There have been a series of questions regarding the requirements to be met by students who wish to get admitted to the University of Ibadan.

The requirements for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and direct entry admissions to the school are exclusively discussed in the paragraphs of this post.

UI Admission Requirements For UTME Candidates 2023/2024

The admission requirements through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are stated below.

  • The O’level results of candidates must comprise at least five (5) credit results, including English language and mathematics. WAEC, NECO, and GED
  • At the point of Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) registration, prospective students must choose the university as their first choice of institution. During the admissions process, UI doesn’t give recognition to candidates who select the school as their second choice.
  • While selecting subject combinations, the University of Ibadan’s recommended subject combinations must be taken in both JAMB and UI’s post-UTME.
  • The minimum JAMB score required for eligibility for the University of Ibadan Post-UTME is 200 marks, at least.
  • All departmental cut-off marks based on student’s respective choices of course for the year must be met. Meeting the departmental merit cut-off marks is a requirement for making the merit list for the school.
  • It is important to know for candidates who want to combine results that UI accepts a combination of results from two sittings.

Other UI Admission requirements

Certain faculties in the University of Ibadan don’t accept two sittings; these departments include:

  • College of Medicine
  • Basic Medical Sciences;
  • Clinical Sciences;
  • Dentistry;
  • Public Health;
  • Pharmacy

Suffice it to say, candidates must have not less than five (5) O’level credits in a single sitting in the 6 courses.

UI Direct Entry Admissions Requirements

To gain admission into the University of Ibadan through direct entry, below are the admissions requirements:

  • Direct Entry candidates must possess a minimum of five credit points in five courses including English language and Mathematics. WAEC, NECO, GED, and other equivalent results are acceptable.
  • HND holders are required to have at least an Upper credit grade in disciplines relevant to their course of choice.
  • A Level passes are still required for candidates applying using A Level.
  • A minimum of two passes are required for students who want to use a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in relevant disciplines.
  • Direct entry applicants, at the point of direct entry registration, must select the University of Ibadan as their choice of institution. This allows them to submit their biodata, O’level results, and other results on the university portal.
