The management of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara state, has taken taken disciplinary actions against nineteen (19) students over examination malpractices and theft offences.
This was disclosed by the School’s Director of Corporate Affairs, kunle Akogun, in a statement on Monday.
Akogun said that the disciplinary actions against the students was an highlight of the commitment of the university in continuing to uphold academic and moral standards.
According to him, the disciplinary actions were approved by the UNILORIN Vice Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole (SAN) based on the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th and 221st meetings.
The offences committed by the students included theft, assault, examination malpractices, admission racketeering, misconduct, bed space racketeering and extortion and beating a fellow student.
These offences attracted diverse punishment according to the severity, from rustication for a particular number of semester(s) to outright expulsion from the University.
Others included; Badmus Rasheedat Ajoke, Chemistry, Afolayan Damilola, Mathematics, Ajibola Oluwaseyi Temiloluwa, Engineering & Technology, Akorede Isiaka Nifemi, Mathematics, Bolanta Taiye Zainab, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Elegede Favour Emmanuel, Physiology, Ojelabi Ibukunoluwa Micheal, Anatomy and Okeke Ruth Chinecherem, Performing Arts.
Among those rusticated were Onibiyo Eniola Gideon, History and International Studies, Makinde Usman Ayomide, Linguistic and Nigeria Languages, Toki Opeyemi Ayomide, History and International Studies, Adebayo Adeleke, Performing Arts, and Hassan Hanan Adebola, History and International Studies.
