NALS Clarifies on N1 Million Donation by Oyo Speaker

The National Association of Lanlate Students (NALS) has stated that the one million naira (N1,000,000) donation made by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin to the association was made during the administration of the immediate president, Comrade Akinkumi Akinleye.

A response to news making waves that the Idris Ayegoro-led administration of the association received the cash donation.

This was contained in a press release on Saturday by the office of the president, Com. Idris Ayegoro, shortly after a claim by the chief of staff to the Oyo State Speaker, Prince Bayo Olaniyan, stated that the speaker made “cash support to the National Association of Lanlate Students.”

The NALS president explained that after investigations, reliable sources have verified that a total of one million naira (N1,000,000) was awarded by the speaker’s office to the Akinkunmi Akinleye-led administration of the institution.

The investigation revealed that the huge sum was donated on Tuesday, 24th December 2024, barely a week before the lapse of the Akinkumni-led administration.

“…the funds were collected by the former President, Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye, during his tenure. To date, there has been no formal handover, documentation, or financial accounting provided to the current administration regarding the receipt or utilization of this money.” Ayegoro explained.

The President also disclosed that since the transition of NALS leadership, Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye has “refused to relinquish his signatory rights to the association’s bank account.”

“This deliberate obstruction not only violates the principles of accountability and due process but also undermines the integrity of the association,” he added.

“The present leadership of NALS is committed to transparency and good governance. We call on Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye to immediately provide a detailed account of how the ₦1 million was spent and to facilitate the smooth transition of financial control to the rightful officers of the current administration.

“We also urge stakeholders and the general public to take note of these facts as we work to uphold the values of integrity and responsible leadership in NALS.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the students of Lanlate with fairness and accountability. Any attempt to misrepresent the facts or obstruct due process will not be tolerated.” Ayegoro disclosed.

As of press time, the former president, Com Akinkunmi has not responded to messages asking for his reaction to these allegations.

Clarification on the ₦1 Million Donation to NALS by the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly

The leadership of the National Association of Lanlate Students (NALS) wishes to categorically state that the current administration *has not received any financial donation from the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.* Our attention has been drawn to recent reports referencing a ₦1 million donation made to the association, and it is imperative to set the record straight to maintain transparency and accountability within NALS.

We have verified from reliable sources, including the Speaker’s recent public statement, that the said sum was indeed donated to the association. However, the funds were collected by the *former President, Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye*, during his tenure. To date, there has been *no formal handover, documentation, or financial accounting* provided to the current administration regarding the receipt or utilization of this money.

Furthermore, despite the transition of leadership, *Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye has refused to relinquish his signatory rights to the association’s bank account*, an action that raises further concerns about his intent to conceal financial dealings during his administration. This deliberate obstruction not only violates the principles of accountability and due process but also undermines the integrity of the association.

The present leadership of NALS is committed to transparency and good governance. We call on *Comrade Akinkunmi Akinleye to immediately provide a detailed account of how the ₦1 million was spent* and to facilitate the smooth transition of financial control to the rightful officers of the current administration. We also urge stakeholders and the general public to take note of these facts as we work to uphold the values of integrity and responsible leadership in NALS.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the students of Lanlate with fairness and accountability. Any attempt to misrepresent the facts or obstruct due process will not be tolerated.

*Signed,*
*Comrade Ayegoro Idris Adebayo*
*President, National Association’s of Lanlate Students (NALS)*
