If you want to study at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), you need to know the admission requirements for your course. Whether you want to study Medicine and Surgery, Law or Engineering, here’s what you need to know.
UNIABUJA offers Medicine and Surgery, but you need to score high in JAMB, usually above 250. You also need at least 5 O’Level credits in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in one sitting. The university’s Post-UTME is also a screen.
For Law, UNIABUJA offers the course, you need JAMB score of 240 and above. Your O’Level results must have at least 5 credits including English, Literature in English, Government and any other two subjects. Post-UTME also plays a role.
If you want to study Engineering, you must meet the general university requirements. This is JAMB score of 200 and above and 5 O’Level credits in Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry and another science subject. Engineering courses are competitive so a strong Post-UTME score increases your chances.

About the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)
University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) is a big institution located in the Nigerian capital. It was established on January 1, 1988 to run both traditional and distance learning programmes, the first university in Nigeria to do so from the start.
Academic activities started in 1990 with the matriculation of the first set of students at the mini campus in Gwagwalada. Same year, the university was allocated over 11,000 hectares along Abuja-Airport Road for its main campus.
Over the years UNIABUJA has grown. From the initial three colleges—Arts and Education; Law, Management, and Social Sciences; and Science and Agriculture—it now has twelve faculties – Arts, Agriculture, Education, Engineering, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Sciences, Law, Veterinary Medicine, Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, and Clinical Sciences.
In 2023, the university clocked 35 years. During the celebration, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrasheed Na’allah listed the institution’s achievements, saying in 2022, UNIABUJA got research grants of over N1 billion.
As we grow, we will continue to provide quality education and contribute to Nigeria’s progress.
