A tragic incident occurred at the Government Girls Science Technical College along Gombe Road in Potiskum, Yobe State.
The Nigerian Television Authority on Thursday reported that a building housing classrooms suddenly collapsed during school hours, leaving several female students injured and one dead.
“The structure caved in without warning, sending debris crashing down on students who were in the midst of their lessons,” it said.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as teachers and fellow students scrambled to rescue those trapped under the rubble.
The affected students were quickly rushed to the Specialist Hospital Potiskum, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, NTA confirmed.

The Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Abba Adam, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Science and Technical Education Board, Dr Dauda Atiyaye, visited both the scene of the collapse and the hospital to assess the situation and provide support.
