The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the West African Senior Certificate Examination for private candidates (WAEC GCE 2024 Results 1st series).
The examination being the first ever computer-based format for the examination council.
Breakdown of the performance analysis indicated that 42.07%, representing 3,424 candidates obtained the credit grade and above in at least 5 subjects with or without the inclusion of Mathematics and/or English Language.
30.95% representing 2,519 of the 8,139 who sat for the examination obtained credit and above in a minimum of 5 subjects with Mathematics and English inclusive.

The West African Examination body disclosed that 0.80% of the candidates, representing 65 candidates have their results withheld over reported cases of examination malpractices.
The council noted that the usage of the Computer Based Model for the examination has helped to drastically reduce the rate of examination malpractices usually recorded.
They explained that compared to the last examination, 4.95% representing 413 candidates were caught in examination malpractices for WASSCE for private candidates in the 2023 first series.

The council however has created a medium for seeking redress for candidates whose results are being held/withheld to register their complain by visiting https://waecinternational.org/complaints.

- Visit the WAEC website at https://www.waecdirect.org/
- Provide Examination number.
- Select Examination year – 2024
- Select Examination Type as Private Candidates.
- Enter Examination pin and serial number
- Click on submit.
