Youth Empowerment: NAUS & NIDO Netherlands Launch NYGEL Initiative

The Nigeria Youth Global Entrepreneurship and Leadership (NYGEL) Initiative has been launched in a strategic collaboration between the National Association of University Students (NAUS) and Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) Netherlands.

This is contained in a press release signed by NAUS National Ex-Officio 1, Comr. Moses Alalade, on Sunday.

According to him, the initiative is designed as a long-term framework to empower young Nigerians globally through career development, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and leadership training.

In his remarks at the event, the Program Director of NYGEL, Comr. Moses Alalade emphasized the initiative’s broader vision.

“This is not just an event or an activity but a program that is need-based and created after a thorough and thoughtful brainstorming session to address some prevalent problems among young Nigerians, both at home and abroad. We are aware of Nigerians who are displaced as a result of various reasons and of Nigerian youth back home who need mentorship to gain clearer direction and support in their career pathways.

“We believe that this program, focused on career pathways, networking, and public speaking, will serve well in solving some of these pressing issues as our contribution to national service and humanity.”

Stakeholder Endorsements and Support

The launch of NYGEL received strong backing from key leaders within the diaspora community, who expressed their excitement and commitment to future collaborations.

The NIDO Sweden Chairperson, Halima Balogun, expressed her optimism for the initiative’s impact, and her hope for more collaborations of this type.

The importance of diaspora contributions was highlighted by the NIDO Switzerland Chairperson, Hon. Iyke Moneke.

“I really want to appreciate NIDO Netherlands for putting this kind of program together because I
think as Diasporans, we all look forward to what we can do to help. We are happy to support
ourselves in this as well. We also have our individual programs to support and give back to the
country we came from.” He added.

In the words of Pastor Niyi, the NIDO South UK Chairperson, he congratulated the youth in
attendance, urging them to seize the opportunity and make something out of the empowerment.

The NANS Diaspora President emphasized the importance of mentorship, as something that has helped many youth grow better.

In his vote of thanks, NAUS Deputy National President for External and Diaspora Affairs, Comr. Muhammed Ibrahim Buji expressed gratitude to the expert speakers for their contribution and sacrifice.

He acknowledged the planning team for their tireless efforts in making the program a resounding success.

“With this successful launch, the NYGEL Initiative is now positioned as a key platform for career
development, leadership, and entrepreneurship training for Nigerian youth across the globe.

“Future engagements will expand on these themes, introducing tailored programs to address
specific needs in education, business, and professional growth. He said.
