As the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) finalizes plans for the conduct of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the board has warned candidates to be of their best conduct and adhere to all etiquette and guidelines of the examination.
CampusNews360 reported that the JAMB UTME is scheduled to be held across over 700 computer-based centers nationwide between Friday 19th April 2024 and Monday 29th April 2024.
A total of 1,985,642 candidates are set to sit for the 2024 JAMB UTME.
The spokesperson of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, called on all students to follow the stipulated rules in their notification slips.

Benjamin made a call to all candidates sitting for the examination to proceed and print their UTME notification slips, as they provide information regarding the dates, center, time, and venue of their examination.
He stated the need for candidates to arrive at their examination centers at the time they have been scheduled for the examination for biometric verification, which allows them into the examination hall.
The JAMB spokesperson noted that candidates who come 30 minutes after the commencement of the examination would not be allowed to write the examination but would be marked absent.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance for all forms of examination infractions and malpractices that could be detrimental to the conduct of the 2024 JAMB UTME.
“In this regard, candidates are warned to steer clear of all the prohibited items, which have been banned from the examination centres.” Benjamin siad.
He explained that these items have been used in the past by dishonest candidates in the perpetration of examination malpractices, thus, the reason for the ban on these items by the board.
These items have been noted to have aided some dishonest candidates in their quest to perpetrate examination malpractice; hence, the ban on these items is to protect the sanctity of the board’s examinations.
“Some of these items are: smart watches, smart lens (unprescribed glasses), calculators, smart rings, smart pens, Bluetooth devices, flash drives, among others. Candidates are also advised to desist from the practice of using decorative designs or tattoos on their palms as these can impact their biometric screening at the centre.
“Parents are kindly requested to refrain from being around the examination premises, as the Board strictly prohibits parents from being present during the examination.
